Paper Craft: Tutorials: Spacers: Custom Angle Spacers
On our "Spacers" page you can find spacers for creating parallel, perpendicular, 30 degree, 45 degree, and 60 degree angle spacers, but at some point you may want a spacer with another less common angle. This page provides help with creating your own custom spacer.
Instructions
- Refer to the image above as you follow these instructions. Click on the image if you want to obtain a larger view.
- Also refer to the 30-60 spacer page, as this custom spacer is similar in structure to that one.
- The key element to understand is that once you've set the length marked "x" in this diagram, that decision sets the measure of the sides marked "x tan Θ". Use your calculator to calculate that length. For example, if your desired angle is 15 degrees, and the side marked "x" has length 5, enter the following in your calculator: 5 * tan(15) =.
- Note that the tabs should be narrower than the width of your spacer.
- Cut, fold, and glue this spacer according to the directions on the 30-60 spacer page.
