Publishing Educational Resources
This page provides information about publishing quizzes, mazes, word lists, problem of the week pages, and reference units on The Problem Site. The publication process is the same for each type of resource. Please note that publication is a feature available only to Pro Members.
Publishing your resource is a two step process, and while it is possible to skip one of the steps, we discourage members from taking shortcuts on the publication process.
Phase One: Sharing Your Resource
While you are devoloping your resource, no one can see it but you. Once you have previewed your resource and looked for mistakes, the next step is to Share the resource. Sharing it is sort of a "partial publication" - your resource is not linked in from the site, so it will not be easy for people to find it. However, sharing accomplishes the following:
- For assignable resources (quizzes, problem pages, and reference units), you can now assign the activity to your students.
- Visitors to the site who use the resource search bar may find your resource.
- You can send a link to friends/colleagues to have them try out your resource and look for mistakes.
- While your resource is shared, but not published, you can still make modifications, if your students/friends/colleagues find mistakes.
To share your resource, select it from the resource list in your Pro Control Panel and then click "Share." You will see a drop down list that allows you to choose "Share." Select this option, read the terms and conditions, and check the acknowledgement box before submitting.
Phase Two: Requesting Publication
Once you have had some people try our your resource, and you are confident that it is a good quality resource, free of errors, you may request publication. If your resource is published, it will be linked in the directory of resources, which makes it much easier for other site visitors to use what you have created. Please note that once you have requested publication, you no longer have editorial access to your resource. Because we are committed to publishing only high quality resources, and because other teachers/students may be using your resource, we do not allow modifications to the resource once it has been published. This is why we strongly urge you to have several people try your resource before you request publication.
To request publication, select it from the resource list in your Pro Control Panel and then click "Share." You will see a drop down list that allows you to choose "Publish." Select this option, read the terms and conditions, and check the acknowledgement box before submitting.
It may take up to a week for us to review your resource, and if we publish it, you will get a notification with a link to the resource on the site. Even if we choose not to publish your resource, remember that it is still accessible for your students to use.
