Gizmo Currency

In the land of Gizmo, there are three different coins in the currency. They are the gizma, the gizmi, and the gizmu. A resident of Gizmo wanted to buy his neighbor's cow (named Gizme). The conversation went as follows:

Seller: You can buy my cow for a gizmu and 65 gizmas.
Buyer: I don't have that many gizmas.
Seller: How about a gizmu, a gizmi, and 20 gizmas?
Buyer: Sorry, I don't have that many gizmas.
Seller: No problem - you can buy Gizme for 3 gizmis and 10 gizmas.
Buyer: I don't have three gizmis. How about I give you a two gizmus, and you give me 15 gizmas in change.
Seller: Believe it or not, I don't have 15 gizmas.

Finally they agree that the buyer will give a gizmu and two gizmis. How many gizmas will he get in change?

A Dollar Seventy-Five

With Justice for All

Judah went into a store and purchased 5 candy bars and 7 notebooks for $25.50. Jake went into the same store and purchased 8 candy bars and 2 notebooks for $14.10. Later, they compared their receipts, and realized that the clerk had cheated Judah by charging him x cents extra for each candy bar, and 10x cents extra for each notebook.

When they realized the error, Judah went back to the store and demanded justice. The clerk apologized and gave Judah an extra notebook and an extra candy bar. Judah then demanded 30 more cents, and after it was given, they agreed that the transaction was fair.

If justice was truly served, how much did Judah originally pay for a single notebook?
