On Finding Oneself
To discover myself is my mission todayBut the chances are slim if I don’t know the way.
It’s so hard to accomplish this goal without knowing
Just where I have gone and just where I am going.
Am I seeking a part of myself that was lost
When the storms of this life left my boat turned and tossed?
Who am I that I seek as I trample this shore?
Am I me here today, or as I was before?
Is it me that I hunt for, or just an ideal?
Can I separate dreams from the truth? Who is real?
Was that me that I saw heading off ‘round the bend?
Will I find myself there, or go off the deep end?
