Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by lostcerebellum on February 22, 2008
"This was written as a song, while I was thinking about what a terrible thing the cross was. And yet, at the same time, it is the most beautiful and precious event that ever took place on the face of the earth."
Golgotha
Golgotha, how terribly lovely you are.Golgotha. My Savior hung there on a bar,
By all men forsaken; even God stood afar.
My sins were forgiven at the place of the skull, Golgotha.
'Neath the weight of my sin Jesus stumbled and fell,
But He had to keep going, or send me to hell.
So He rose to his feet to finish God's will,
And died for me there on the Hill.
Golgotha, how terribly lovely you are.
Golgotha. My Savior hung there on a bar,
By all men forsaken; even God stood afar.
My sins were forgiven at the place of the skull, Golgotha.
