I Love the Thought of Coming Spring

I love the thought of coming spring ;
Desire to hear the bluebird sing ;
To smell the fragrance of the rose,
And feel the mud between my toes.

The earth awakens from her dreams;
Her blanket melts and runs to streams,
And greenish patches start to show,
Where naught there was before, but snow.

The swelling buds on limbs of trees
Portend the blossoms and the leaves.
The whole world seems to change its mood,
And I myself shall feel renewed.
