"I can remember when Christmas brought out the best in people.
Now it seems to bring out the worst in them.

Now it seems to bring out the worst in them.

Christmas. It’s Not What it Used to Be.
I wonder more with every year,What happened to the Christmas cheer?
The shoppers used to be polite
And hold doors open with delight.
But now it seems to reek of greed,
With no thought for another’s need.
And pray that you’re not near the door
If someone else wants in the store.
I know nostalgia paints the years
All rosy, wiping off the tears,
But somehow I don’t think that’s why
The Christmas spirit seemed to die.
The world no longer has the sense
That we owe life to Providence.
We’ll celebrate the day He came,
And yet we must not speak His name.
Who is this One with worship due?
Most people now don’t have a clue.
I guess the thing I find most odd
Is how we treat the Son of God.
