The written word

I write to right a wrong my true love said
in words of flowing script across the page
the words that follow needing to be read
the parchment seeming yellow white with age
my heartbeat fluttered wildly in my breast
as I read through the words he wrote to me
these feelings searing through me stole my rest
Oh how the written word can hold the key
to unlock feelings deep within the heart
my sorrow turning swift to soaring joy
his written words explaining as an art
that which the voice can not so well employ
readers imagination when unfurled
transports us into magic other worlds
