"another attempt at terza rima"
birds
A robin tamed by meals of biscuit crumbsscattered outside, just by the garden door
at breakfast time each day he always comes
starlings swoop for bread , nineteen, twenty -four?
in family groups , mouths open to be fed
the youngsters waiting patient, still unsure
the lesser spotted woodpecker so red
hangs upside down upon the fat to feed
a noise and to the trees he soon has fled
the grey lag geese swim stately near the reeds
the river ever flowing gently by
supplying food and drink to meet their needs
a myriad of birds amidst the sky
to watch in silent wonder as they fly
