Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by du courage on March 15, 2014
"I read a few articles this week on the problem of the growing number of elderly people in the world. It made me feel sad and rebellious. You would nearly feel guilty for having passed a certain age. Where will this lead? How can they simply declare a substantial category of people a problem or a burden for our modern society."
The fate of elderly people
Growing oldis seen as a burden
more and more
and for the young
as impossible future chore
It's like becoming useless
once your "best before" date
has passed
like being discarded
for the years
you'll still last
And still there is hope
if only they'd see
as long as we live
of use we can be
Let no-one become
the waste of society!
