National Poetry Writing Month: Grab Bag Poem
The sun is so warm that my chocolate is meltingIn hands that tremble as I face the road
So frequently travelled by worldly and innocent alike
The asphalt path of Kamaya Point beckons.
In a sea of white, people search for a sign
That days will be better in the coming months
Yet as I gaze at the bald newcomers marching
I realize I have but one month left to stay.
So I lick the chocolate off my fingers
I dust off my travel-weary coat
For in the moth to come I shall cherish
The last moments in my Alma Mater.
