You have to have lived with an addict,
to know the pain it brings.
You talk to them and they just stare,
not knowing how much this stings.

You have to have lived with an addict,
to understand this mass confusion.
They know it upsets you when they drink,
but to them it's all an illusion.

You have to have lived with an addict,
to feel the feelings that are felt.
And be surprised when you find out,
how much pain and misery is dealt.

You have to have lived with an addict,
to see what it can do.
Because in the end your family or friend,
will be gone with you left to construe.
