I weave my way through the onlookers until I reach the paddock. It is hard to disitnguish the males in the herd, but at last I see the one I am looking for. The stallion is staring at me before I even realize I've found him. I've worked overtime for weeks looking for this one. I have Nan bring the large bag of perishables we've brought for him. We worship from the gate. The ritual complete, we are now all three wed together in equine polygamy. Our appreciation of his beauty and strength is returned to us with love in those huge, brown eyes.More writing by this author
