You Should Come Back Home
and we all go down the drain.because everyone has a scar.
and the walk home is always too far.
pain rolls around like a trackball on our fingertips.
and we all end up with bruises on our hips.
there's a jar, where the nickle and dime laid eyes.
but they're gone now and all that's left are fireflies.
you said you'd run away and go up the mountains.
while i dust and part the heavy linen curtains.
your fist befriends a broken mirror.
their eyes looking at you in horror.
but i shed a couple rivers on an empty plate.
dissipating the thirst of your little Kate.
in her sweet little eyes, your shadow's depreciated.
the day she needed you but found out you've departed.
but your poor old side of the bed remains.
fluffed and free from your created blood stains.
