"This poem is about a dinosaur named Sue who was uncovered not so very long ago in America "
Fossil
Faded cries of a long extinct creatureEcho off the walls of its rocky prison.
The very stone mourns
As its heart is hardened,
Along with the only other remnants of its demise.
Layer of sediment solidify and become one,
Showcasing its treasure for an audience
Thousands of years in the future.
A sandstorm whips across the desert.
A flood erodes the surface of the earth.
An ancient dinosaur is uncovered
And sees the world the world for a second time-
the wait of millenia.
Cold, hard tools chip away at it,
And the monster of the past
Disturbed from its sleep
Silently observes its new future.
