Driving in the Driving Rain

Swish swish
wipers plowing across
smooth glass
pushing away room
for my eyes to peer
restless at the
blinding
smudges of light
on the other side
of the windshield
Swish swish
and I can see again
at least for another
moment.
rain turns into
a torrent
and I feel my hands
clench
on the cold steering wheel
swish swish
and my vision
captures a scene
one moment closer to home
swish swish
