Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

"Much like everything I seem to be writing lately, this one is a bit vauge, but still does manage to display a cohesive theme. I attribute much of the inpiration for these lyrics to Poe's "The Tell Tale Heart." If you look closely, you will discover several references to it, as I utilized that story as a basis for illustrating my point. The underlying theme is simply the fact that "Your sins will find you out" and that despite what you do, there is no hiding from yourself and in the end your guilt will find you. It is open to other interpretations as well."
Recall to Life
Hide it wellInsanity does not bear such fruit
Bury it deep
They'll never find you
Inhale success
So viscously sweet
Let us one and all
Praise the genius deed
An evil eye, never lies
Oh how you try, how you try
But I can see, all the way through
Remember me, you don’t, do you
Recall to life the words
Beware, lest it seek you out
A distant rhythm
A clamor in the ear
Careful now, close your mouth
An evil eye never lies
Oh how you try, how you try
But I can see, all the way through
Remember me, you don't, do you
Revel in drunken pride
Soothe your hideous heart
I'll take your demon eyes
I'll make the truth depart
Test your luck, board them shut
Still, I will rip them apart
I will rip them apart
An evil eye never lies
Oh how you try, how you try
You shall yet be blind
At least then you will see
Tear up the planks
Dissemble no more
You will remember me
