Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

"This has a rhythm to it so if you can't really read it out properly, that would be why. It's technically classified as a poem, but it sounds like a song. But it's just the lyrics that matter, really."
Suck it Up
Baby, where you headin'?Looks like you ain't gotta clue
You're sitting at a fork in the road
What the hell are you gonna do?
You've been in the spotlight once
Now you want it more and more
I'm looking at you baby, I ain't impressed
What do you want the attention for?
Suck it up, buttercup
It can't be that bad
It ain't pissing down on both sides
So stop saying you feel so sad
I'm so sick of your complaints
Like how life just isn't fair
Everyone knows it like the back of their hand
But you still expect them to care
Allow me to let in some light
In the shadows you claim to hide
You're egotistical, moody and grating
You can't undo the knot you've tied
So where is that beacon of light
The attention-seeking beam
Well I know it ain't shining on you
Except in your fantastical dream
Next time you complain, I won't listen
You'll get no sympathy from me
Maybe an 'aw' or a sad little face
But you don't deserve my empathy
So suck it up, buttercup
I hope that you will come around
It's time to switch on the light
And come out from underground
