"This is a cleaned-up version of a poem I wrote for an assignment in my Creative Writing class this year. "
How to Tell If You're Invisible
No one ever looks at you.You never need to smile.
It doesn’t matter what you wear-
Who watches anyway?
You don’t have to say a word-
The silence says it all.
You win;
You fail,
Who’s keeping score
But you?
You slouch down the hall,
And no one meets your eye.
You can break the rules
Or follow them,
And nobody will care.
But when you turn invisible
For real, you’ll know
Because you’ll stop caring too.
You quit trying,
Start dying,
And eventually, it's okay with you.
