Texting and tweeting

I was at the YMCA this morning and they had a show on about how ADD is on
the rise, and they are blaming texting. They say kids don't concentrate on
class because they get a text every ten minutes.There was some control freak mom on the show talking about how she doesn't allow her kids to text that often, and she makes her kids sit in front of her doing homework, and she reads their texts because she feels she has a right to.
If I were the kid, I would be embarassed enough that that lady was my mom let alone to have her on national Tv. Let's face it, most kids are embarassed of their parents until we realize the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
Another article i saw in the paper I saw is that teens are more interested in texting than driving. I'm not even going to go into the dumb mistakes I made as a teenager, but as far as studying? I remember nothing I studied in high school as being pertinent. I knew a woman who studied German for five years and spoke it fluently, but she didn't keep up with it so she forgot it completely. And at easter dinner last night, one couple there said that people are getting together as couples and adopting dogs and not having kids. It's just not fair to bring a child into this world anymore. It never has been a safe world for children. But I know I love my neice and nephew and I think the world of them. And they think the world of me too. In Chicago recently, over the weekend, a bunch of teenage girls were arrested on the train platform because they were smoking cigarettes(which is illegal, anyhow) and someone kindly asked her to put it out, and about fifteen of them jumped on her and started beating her up. then they stole her purse, but the cops caught her. So where are their parents? Certainly not on TV complaining that their kid texts too much!
I love children, and I love people, because i am a child of God. I'm a Christian, and we're supposed to be the salt and light of the earth. Today i'll try to make a difference.
