"Friends" Marathon, Cookies & Cream Ice-Cream and Me
I tear at the packet of marshmallows, and without checking the calorie-count, stuff them all in my mouth. There's no chewing; just swallowing, letting the sugary goodness melt in my mouth. My laptop sits in front of me, untouched and welcoming. Instantly, I search "Friends" in the search-bar. That's when I have my marathon. Not just any marathon, but the entire first season flashes beyond my eyes, sending me in hysterical bursts of laughter.
It's a short walk to the kitchen. I pause the tenth episode of the second season. It's past midnight, but I don't take a single minute to consider the next morning. Work can wait: it's been a long time since I've sat back and properly relaxed.
There's two entire plastic bags, bought specifically for this occasion. With glee evident on my face, I tuck the bags under my arm and all but race to my bedroom, where I fall back into my fort of pillows, letting them swallow me.
One by one, I take out the many snack-foods I've purchased. Melted chocolate colour my hands, but I lick them off without a second consideration to how unhygienic it is.
Then the packet of chips is finished, along with the cookies and cream ice-cream and roast chicken. All while watching re-runs of a show that always lightens up my day with its endless laughter.
This must be what heaven feels like.
