Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Douglas on March 26, 2008
"This poem was written in my head while driving from South Paris to South China (from Paris to China without leaving the state...only in Maine!). At first the poem was only four lines long, and I was going to post a comment after explaining the proper way to read it...but then I thought of a better way.
Some people talk on cell phones while they drive...not me, I have other ways to distract myself. :)"

A Springtime Ride
I wrote this poem today as I did rideOver roads so rough I thought I would surely die.
And each pothole is where all of my accents fell
Which is why the meter does not work very well.
(And now that I'm home again, let me explain:
To understand fully please read it again,
And imagine a pothole disrupted my jaunt
Each time that you find an italicized font.)
