Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Douglas on December 11, 2008
High Tech Punctuation
Apostrophes and commas, semi-colons, question marks:They give a bit of clarity to all of your remarks -
Along with periods ('full stops' to all our British friends)
That firmly halt communications at their proper ends.
It can be so confusing; every mark must have its place,
Or else your manuscript will face derision and disgrace.
So I have practiced proper punctuation every day,
And so ensure my writing will not fall in disarray,
But in this age of high technology and internet
One punctuation mystery still causes me to sweat;
On this dilemma every single website swims or sinks:
Oh, does that period go in or out of hyperlinks?
