Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Douglas on October 27, 2008
"I decided to write a grab bag poem, in which each line of the poem included one of the randomly selected words. This was an interesting challenge, and obviously I was forced into using words that would NOT have been my first choice. (rummage sale?)
Anyway, the word 'shriveled' made me think about old age, and I could see that other words might fit that theme, so I went with it. I was pretty pleased that I was able to do this in less than 15 minutes. :)
This post is a Grab Bag which uses the following words: fully, shipload, pessimistic, pro, adroitly, durability, shriveled, rummage sale, corrode, condensation"

Mortality
I do not fully understand the wayThe years, by shiploads pass us swiftly by;
With pessimistic fear we watch them fly,
As time, a thieving pro does steal our days.
Adroitly and uncannily it takes
Our durability and trades it for
A fragile, shriveled state, both weak and sore,
Like useless trinkets at a rummage sale.
Mortality with glee corrodes, decays,
As condensation like a vapor fades.
