The following is a piece of writing submitted by Douglas on April 15, 2009
"This is my favorite one yet."
Kelly
"This is Kelly, with Debt Consolidations. We spoke two weeks ago about your credit card debts. Please call me back to set up a consolidation plan. Press one to talk to me now."Needing a quick break from making out checks to Uncle Sam and his relatives, I pressed one. The male voice (definitely not Kelly) on the other end of the line said, "This is Todd. Would you like to consolidate your credit card debts now?"
I replied, "I'd like to speak with Kelly, please."
After a pause, Todd said, "I'm sorry, Kelly isn't here."
"But she just said I should press one to talk to her."
"Well, yes, I know. But Kelly is just the person who leaves the messages; you can talk to me."
"Kelly doesn't talk to the clients?"
"No sir."
"Huh," I said, "she told me we had talked a couple weeks ago."
"She just leaves messages."
"But, she said she talked to me a couple weeks ago."
"She just leaves messages."
"So she lied to me?"
"She just leaves messages."
"But she said she talked to me two weeks ago. So she lied to me?"
"Well, yes..."
"What is the name of your company?"
"Oh..."
