Stupid Stuff
Long before any boisterous roosters reviveAnd begin with their cockle and doodling crow,
I'm awake at the unholy hour of five,
And my brain is atwitter for that first cup of joe.
While the coffee is brewing I stumble about,
And I try to write poems profound, wise and deep,
But now I'm self-conscious and filled with grave doubt,
'Cause I write stupid stuff when deprived of my sleep.
