Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Douglas on July 6, 2010
"We sang "My Country Tis of Thee" in church on Sunday, and as I was singing, I noticed what an interesting rhyme/meter it had, and I decided to try to mimic it.
So you should be able to sing this poem to that tune."
So you should be able to sing this poem to that tune."
Christendom's Bells
When e'er your sweet chimes ringMy heart begins to sing -
Christendom's bells.
Sing for the God who wins
Victory over sins
And for the souls who've been
Rescued from hell.
Call to sweet fellowship,
In the truth to equip,
Elders and youth.
Gather the faithful few,
Minds and hearts to renew,
Train us to hear and do,
Soldiers of Truth.
Pause as the death knell tolls,
Weep for departed souls -
Those without breath.
Hear in that doleful song,
Hope that arises strong,
Right conquers over wrong,
Life over death.
