Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Douglas on December 7, 2015
"The choice to do an anapestic poem was dictated by the line of Scripture I was quoting in the last line. I tried very hard not to make it sound "Seussy." Try not to read it like you would read "Cat in the Hat!" :P"
Advent Themes - Peace
All things upon this dark planet are shakenBy wars, and by hatred, by fear, and by terror;
The rivers runs tears, and the precipice quakes
For the curse and the groaning of all this world bears.
So cry not for peace where no peace can be found,
But surrender to weeping for fear and for fate,
As we join with the rivers in tears for those drowned
In the dark briny deeps of our terror and hate.
Yet peace, like a river, swells over the strait,
And anon glints the sunlight as morning awakens;
The vagabonds spurn this Dominion of Hate,
We're receiving a kingdom that shall not be shaken.
