Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

Our Own Little Worlds
What I call my own little worldIs actually just a sliver of pie
With corners cut straight
Down from the center;
A slight and narrow
Sampling of the whole.
It follows the same mold
As all the others, only
Bears perhaps a moderate
Difference in the mixture
Of flavors, and textures,
And the ways in which the
Filling protrudes (or does not)
Out of each side - or the ways
That the crust on that particular
Side is formed, burned,
Crumbled, dried, and sometimes
Soaked up flavor over time.
The one thing I cannot observe,
But in faith can truthfully surmise,
Is that all of our own little worlds
Still taste something like apple.
