Money Can't Buy

On a hot summer evening, the cool breath of wind,
The laughter of children who play on the street,
The warm, cheerful smile of a stranger or friend,
And the joy of a peaceful and silent retreat.
An affectionate dog with his fond, doleful eyes,
With his chin in your lap on the loneliest days,
The aroma of bread, or of freshly baked pies,
And the bright, crackling spark of a fireside blaze.
An infant's soft coo, and his gurgling sigh,
The good and the kind, and the lovely to see;
Oh! so many fine things money never could buy,
For the best things in life, friend, they truly are free.
