The Gates of Capernau
The sun is shining brightly o're the gates of CapernauThe clouds are drifting lazily on by
The sentry on his duty round wipes sweat from off his brow
and gazes from his vantage point so high
The sun is shining brightly 'neath the gates of Capernau
The trees are swaying gently in the breeze
The leader in the shadows waits to call attack with "now!"
and crouches by the boulder on his knees
The stars are shining brightly o're the gates of Capernau
The moon blood red and full is shining down
The soldiers on the battlements in keeping with their vow
have fended off attackers from their town
The stars are shining brightly 'neath the gates of Capernau
The shadows hiding more that just the trees
The leader's broken body lies among the rest who now
as soldiers lay forevermore at ease
