Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Janee on December 4, 2007
"I find the haiku format constraining. I'm sure it's good practice for me to write them, but I can never do what I want. I might rewrite this as a single poem at some point, without the haiku constraint."
Longing for the Day
laughing children withspellbound anticipation,
longing for the day
Santa's reindeer prance
in their imagination,
waiting for the day
cluttered floors strewn with
gift tags, shredded paper and
treasures of the day
tired children sleep;
peaceful and contented rest,
dreaming of the day
