Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Sylvan Sylph on February 14, 2008
"Love is sometimes persistent. Sometimes it seems to take hope by the hand and laugh in the face of reality, even when we'd rather it didn't."
East to West
You drive east.I'll drive west.
If we meet in the middle
Perhaps this love is blessed.
I'm not holding on.
Everyday I'm letting go.
But if you ever miss me,
Please won't you let me know?
You drive east.
I'll drive west.
If we pass each other by
Perhaps we'll find it's for the best.
You know I don't believe in fate,
Sometimes in destiny.
I wish that I believed in love,
That it was meant for you and me.
You drive east.
I'll drive west.
If you catch me as I pass by
Then it's time that I confessed.
In the years I miss you
Though you find some other love
I'll hold onto this faded hope
As I trust our God above.
You drive west.
I'll drive east.
If we someday find each other
We'll know it's meant to be.
