Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Sylvan Sylph on September 1, 2008
"I wrote this a long time ago. I can't remember why I titled this "Outside." It could probably be better titled, but I'm very lazy when it comes to creating titles so "Outside" it shall remain. Unless someone suggests something better."
Outside
I walk the road alone; It leads me to nowhere.
I am without a past and without a home
On this never-ending stair.
Who calls to me this lonely night?
Who beckons from the dark?
It is only my shadow in the moonlight.
Striking me, it leaves no mark.
It, too, takes to flight
From this landscape cold and stark.
Nothing is my companion,
Emptiness my only friend.
If I knew where time went wrong,
Would my world begin to mend?
