Give it Up!

Originally, I said I was going to give up meat
That didn't work, because I wanted to eat...
So I decided I would give up cursing
But I already had done that, so that wasn't working.

I sat long and hard and contemplated what I should do
But I came up with nothing of matter
And started to feel blue

I looked around at that moment and saw
What a beautiful life, and it left me in awe
He has blessed me in so many ways
There has to be something I could give away

I thought about not eating sugar and sweets
But that wouldn't do, it had to be a bigger treat
I sat back and thought, for my final last time

I closed my eyes tight, hoping for some kind of hymn
I then realized what I would do
I would give all of my life to Him

Not in terms of lent and all
But forever, until the final night fall.
