Today I Wish That I Was a Mole
Today I wish that I was a mole,Who lives in a damp and a dark little hole,
And burrows his way under everyone -
Secret and silent -'twould be so much fun.
No more knives, forks, and spoons, and no fine china plate,
I'd eat off the ground, and there'd be none to berate.
(Though I'm not really fond of a critter that squirms,
I would dutifully chow on those gross, squishy worms.)
Not a soul would come visit my quaint little flat;
I'd have solitude there in my dark habitat.
And no one would hand me a vacuum or broom;
I could leave all the dirt on the floor of my room!
And I'm happy to say that a mole cannot see;
For this is the thing that would fill me with glee;
You might think that it's awful and just plain insidious,
But you'd gladly be blind if your wife was so hideous!
