Death Comes to the Park

I always thought of the park as a fun place to go. Everybody had fun at the park, a place to play, hang out or just goof off. But not today someone else went to the park. This person didn't come to play no this person brought murder to the park. I mean why the park? I guess it doesn't matter. Anyway today as I walked by the swing sets, as I always do there it was; death not on swings no just setting on a log that ran around the sand that the swings sat on. He asked me where I was going. "Not on the swings that is for sure. He laughed and I thought how can death laugh? He read my thoughts "I can laugh if I find something funny."

Now this was begining to confuse me. "Why are you talking to me?" But he didn't answer. Then all of a sudden he looked up "You better go say good-by to your friend Johnny." I thought I better go warn John and turned around to run. Death laughed again "Don't bother warning Johnny he won't believe you anyway." He had read my thoughts again I still turned and ran as hard as I could. When I got to the hoops there was my friends all standing around Johnny who was laying on the ground. And behind there was death smiling at me. "Johnny, Johnny" I cried and knelt down beside him. he looked at me "Why didn't you warn me." I wept and told Johnny that I had tried but death beat me to him. And then he was gone.

I looked up at death and he said 'No one is fast enough to out run death my boy. When I come to you just welcome me for that is all you can do."
