"With special thanks to Bill Watterson and with hope he'll bring back Calvin"
My Animal, My Friend
Haven't we all dreamed of having the power to create our own special kind of animal? I could do it to, if I could just borrow 'Calvin and Hobbs' Transmogrifier I could create my dream animal. As I read through Bill Watterson's famous strip I quickly realize what better animal could one have than a tiger like Hobbs.Yes sir, that's just what I'd do, I'd take my favorite stuffed tiger, pop him into the old Transmogrifier, and turn him into a living breathing friend. What's so great about my tiger is that to your mom or the girl down the street he just a stuffed toy but when you and he are alone he's your best friend. My tiger doesn't care if you messed up your spelling test or you drew on your walls, he's there for you through thick and thin. Although he tells you that the girl down the street is cute, he still only talks to you, not her.
My tiger friend is not the kind that warns you when you start to do something dumb. I mean why would you want a friend like that, oh no my friend just lets me screw up and then he's sympathetic. Other friends get mad at you or they go and talk to that girl down the street but not my tiger he will always be loyal.
Mom says that I'll outgrow my friend and that he's just a stuffed toy but my friend knows better and I tell him we'll be friends for life. Except, that girl down the street, well she smiled at me yesterday and it made me feel all goofy inside. Maybe I could go and talk to her, it's just she might make fun of my tiger. He's still my best friend but I think I'll leave him at home while I go.
When I come home, I run to tell my tiger about Lucy. She is really nice and pretty too and her mom makes chocolate chip cookies. While I've been gone, for some strange reason, my tiger crawled into the Transmogrifier and turned himself back into a stuffed animal. I miss my friend and... What's that Mom, I have a phone call from a girl named Lucy? Cool, OK I be right there.
