Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

"It's that noise that never ending noise"
A Tortured Night
I lie in bed with a deep need to sleepWith my eyes closed, I await the calm
I toss and I turn my covers a heap
As I long for rest and its soothing balm
It's just that noise, that constant sound
I know it's not loud but it never quite stops
I search for answers yet only questions abound
Is it coming from faucets or maybe some clocks
Yes It could be a ticking or maybe a tap
Longing for silence it's a test of my will
For each sound now fells like the sting of a slap
Maybe the wind, no for outside is quite still
I stay wide-awake, will this noise never end
And then I see it's the watch on my wrist
