Stabbed in the Back
I went with the same girl through most of high school and I like to think that we both thought we'd end up married. That all ended the summer of my junior year, that's when my life fell apart. My girl went with her family on vacation, leaving me alone for most of the summer. She and I had been almost inseparable and I'd forgone most of my pals to be with her. I was now spending my time alone, at home and getting bored when my old friend Don called me on a Saturday night. He invited me to a party a mutual friend was throwing and without thinking it through I accepted. I knew my girl would be upset if she found out but I was bored and besides it was her fault, she is the one who left town.
The party was crazy; the host's parents were out of town leaving him alone. They had a pool with a separate Jacuzzi tucked into a corner giving some privacy to its occupants. As a young lad who hadn't had much to do with alcohol, I got pretty tipsy. I was talking to a girl that I didn't know who also was drunk. She said she wanted to use the Jacuzzi and asked me to join her. I told her I didn't have a suit and she laughed then told me, "No one wears a suit in a Jacuzzi."
Lucky for me I wasn't that drunk and with a little persuasion, I talked her out of it. She sat there next to me pouting and then suddenly leaned over and kissed me. For some reason I returned the kiss and then before I knew it we were making out. We didn't go too far and yet I still felt guilty as I went home that night, knowing I had cheated. I promised myself I'd be good for the rest of the time my girlfriend was away.
I was so happy when she got back but when I saw her I knew something was wrong. First, she showed me the pictures my friend Don had taken of me at the party kissing this strange girl and then she gave me back the ring she wore around her neck. It broke my heart and yet I know I deserved it but when I found out that she now was dating Don was when I figured out that I'd been set up. I think he had invited me to the party with the hope of getting me broke up with my girlfriend and I fell for it hook line and sinker.
