Veterans' Day Heroes

My father went to fight that war so long ago
He did his part just as he should this I know
They called him hero but he said he was but a man
He came back to family just like it was part of the plan
I'm proud of my dad for the way he lived his life
He did what he had to no matter how hard the strife
