Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by R. Wesley Lovil on February 10, 2013
"What does the song say? I will do anything for love but..."
Be my Valentine
The fourteenth of February is drawing so nearAnd what my girl wants is abundantly clear
She says flowers and candy mean nothing to her
She wants an ode that will make her heart to go purr
Let's see, roses are red and violets are purple
How come there's no words like nurple and durple
John Lennon wrote love songs said they're easy as pie
Yeah well let's see him hit a fastball deep in the sky
She knows that I love her, she's in my thoughts night and day
I can't seem to say that in rhyme, there is just no way
You mean more to me than a Koufax named sandy
And if you'd be my Valentine my life would be dandy
