Rescue
The clean-cut young officer wore his epaulets with pride. He'd just taken his first suspect into custody. He felt so powerful and virtuous, certainly he felt vastly superior to this low-down criminal type. The arrested man sat meekly in the interview room. Nothing mattered to him now. She would be free. What was done was done.
'Right what have you got to say for yourself?' barked Officer Clean-cut.
The man remained silent.
The officer tried again, but to no avail. Cajoling, threats - Nothing.
Angrily, he stormed out. 'He's as tight as a clam! I can't get anything out of him.'
A few streets away, a young women wept tears of relief. That bully of a man was gone for ever, dead. There would be no more beatings and torment. How could she ever thank her unknown rescuer?
