"A conversation between a teenage girl and her favourite aunt."
Telephone Conversation
Hello Love.Aunty Jan!
How are you?
Alright. Me and my stepmother had a big fight.
She said I was grounded and wouldn’t say why
and then called me names when I started to cry.
Oh dear, it’s so hard and I’m so far away.
I wish you could come for a permanent stay.
When I was nine I wanted to do it
It made me so sad when Dad really blew it.
I wanted to then, but not now I wouldn’t.
I’d miss all my friends too much, though I shouldn’t.
Did she tell you her news?
About the baby? Yes, well…
Though her health is not good -things may not go well.
Have to wait I suppose. Only time will tell.
She said if she loses it that’s down to me
for causing her stress.
How can that be?
How could it be your fault? What a dim thing to say.
I don’t blame you for wanting to get right away.
She’s yelling for me, so I’d better go.
She’s carries on so much, as you know.
Okay my darling. I’ll talk to you soon.
I love you Aunt Jan.
And I love you too.
