Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
The following is a piece of writing submitted by Sara Taylor on February 24, 2008
"Well... let's see...this is a poem I wrote about my mom... turns out, as soon as I told her I liked someone she hated the idea even if she didn't meet him... so yeah, I'm not able to talk to her about anything as far as that goes...and it's hard because, she's like the most important person in my life and all I want is her countenance and advice....but w/e...guess it's just between God and me in this one..
but don't get me wrong...I still love my mom to death, but yeah...it would be nice if I could tell her what's on my mind.."

If only she'd understand
she just doesn't understandthe feelings that I feel
that what I have isn't infatuation
but a genuine love that's real
that you're all that matters to me
everything is just nothing
but we have a lack of communication
she doesn't understand a thing
if only she'd hear my words
see through, passed, my eyes
notice all the effort that
I put into all my tries
then maybe I'd have a chance
to show what I feel inside
and life would be easier
and I wouldn't feel so confined
we'd be able to talk about things
take eachother's hand
become bestest of friends
if only she'd understand
