Silence!
George lives in the city. The closest he comes to silence is the wafting sound of his neighbor playing Simon & Garfunkel.George doesn't want silence. He wants to know his neighbor is across the hall, listening to music and possibly grading papers or boiling water for pasta.
Silence means the cricket was stepped on.
It means someone told their parents they were gay.
It means a police officer died in the line of duty.
I don't want silence. I want noise, pounding and breathing, give me noise!
